Once you have created and configured your storage, you can use CloudSoda to transfer data via Quick Transfers and Policies. Data transfers occur in several ways: copy, move and sync.
- Copy - copies the desired data from the storage Source to the storage Target.
- Move - moves the desired data to the storage Target and removes it from the storage Source.
- Sync - synchronizes data between the storage Source and storage Target, ensuring they are identical. NOTE: To enable sync operations, it is necessary to specify conflict handling for data.
Transferring Data via Agents
CloudSoda uses one or two Agents to securely transfer data between a storage Source and a storage Target. By default, it automatically chooses the most efficient transfer method based on performance. The selection is guided by the following prioritized criteria:
-
Single Agent Data Transfers
This method is used when both the Source and Target are defined. If multiple agents are available for the transfer, CloudSoda will randomly select an idle agent to handle the task. If all agents are busy, CloudSoda applies a custom heuristic to identify the agent with the most available resources and assigns it to perform the data transfer.
-
Dual Agent Data Transfers
In this method, all possible transfer routes are evaluated, including the latency introduced by agent communication within the mesh. CloudSoda selects the route with the lowest overall latency.
The following articles cover all aspects of CloudSoda's data transfer functionality via Quick Transfers and Policies.
