Dry Runs allow you to preview the details of a data transfer before it is executed. To perform a Dry Run, first create and configure a Quick Transfer, refer to Managing Quick Transfers.
Performing a Dry Run
To perform a Dry Run:
- Click Orchestration > Dashboard in the left-hand navigation panel.
The Dashboard page displays. -
Click Quick Transfer at the top-right of the page.
The Transfer page displays and defaults to the Storage tab.
- Select the transfer type (Copy, Move or Sync).
- Select the Source and Target folders for the transfer. If you need a new folder on the Target, click the Add Folder icon, enter the name of the new folder, and click Confirm.

Click Dry Run to preview the data transfer that will be initiated by the Quick Transfer. Enter a name for the Dry Run and click Deploy.
The Dry Run Preview displays the Size of the data, the number of Files transferred, the Duration of the transfer to complete, the Transfer Cost to transfer the data, and the Storage Cost of the transfer. The storage cost is presented in two formats: Source Monthly Storage Cost and Target Monthly Storage Cost enabling you to compare costs side by side. You can change the Quick Transfer configuration and perform another Dry Run to determine any impact to the data transfer attributes.
After a Dry Run, you can do one of the following:

Click Export Logs to export a log file containing files affected by the transfer, including transfer-related information.

Click Save to save the Dry Run information for later use. Dry Runs are saved to the Dry Run page, which can be accessed by navigating to Jobs > Dry Run. This page displays a list of all saved Dry Runs.

Click Transfer Now when you are satisfied with the Quick Transfer configuration.
NOTE: By default, Dry Runs time out after 20 minutes. To successfully complete a Dry Run that takes more than 20 minutes to complete, click Save while the operation is running.
The Dry Run results will be saved to Jobs > Dry Runs.
