In CloudSoda, jobs refers to a data transfer initiated through either a Quick Transfer or a Policy. The Jobs page provides a list of both active and completed Jobs. This article details how to view and manage Jobs effectively.
Viewing Jobs
To view jobs, click Orchestration > Jobs in the left-hand navigation panel. The Jobs page displays the full history of all Jobs and Policies. Each is easily identified by its unique color and associated icon:
Quick Transfers – Are red and display this icon.
Policies – Are blue and display this icon.
You can also view a list of all saved Dry Run transfers by clicking Dry Runs at the upper-right of the window. See the Dry Run section for details.
Filter
If you are looking for a specific Job Name, you can do so by entering a name in the field at the top-right of the page and click Filter.
You can also sort by column by clicking the title at the top of the column.
The page displays all the Jobs containing the entered criteria. Click Clear to reset the page.
History
The history of the Jobs and Policies that have run are detailed by sortable columns displayed on the page. Here you can see the following information:
- Name – the name of the Job or Policy.
- Source – The data source.
- Target – The data target.
- Cost – The estimated cost of the transfer.
- Size – The size of the transfer.
- Speed – The average speed of the transfer in Mbps.
- Duration – How long the transfer took to complete.
- Initiated – The date and time when the transfer began.
- Status – The time when the transfer ended along with a status icon.
Status
The status of a transfer not only tells you the time when the transfer ended but also gives the status of the transfer designated by specific icons, shown in the table below.
|
Icon |
Status |
Definition |
|
|
Success |
The transfer was completed successfully with no errors. |
|
|
Failed |
A failed transfer means that the threshold of permitted file transfer failures was exceeded. A job can also fail for reasons such as the transfer data size exceeded the available free space on the target. |
|
|
Canceled |
A canceled transfer is the result of a user cancellation. |
|
|
Finished, with Warnings |
The transfer completed, and all the data requested were transferred, however, there were warnings that occurred during the transfer. For example, a file had to be retransferred due to a validation error, or a file that was set to be transferred was not as it was removed from the source before it was transferred. |
|
|
Finished, with Errors |
The transfer completed but not all the files were transferred. View the job or error log to see what files failed to transfer. |
Details
From the Jobs page, you can view the details of any Job by clicking anywhere in the row. Once clicked, the job window appears. The details modal provides relevant information about the transfer and allows you to export the job log.
The job transfer logs are slightly different than the dry run logs as they include the following:
- Files moved and their status.
- Hash (#) tables or checksums (MD5) of the file.
If you click on a job from the list, you will see a different window depending on whether the Job is running or complete. Additionally, if you are viewing a Quick Transfer vs. a Policy transfer, the available options are different.
When running, both Quick Transfer and Policy jobs will display Cancel and Pause buttons when running.
If a Quick Transfer or Policy job is not running, you can perform the following Actions on the job by clicking the ellipses (the three dots – …) at the upper-right of the window:
- Convert – This converts a Quick Transfer to a Policy.
- Clone – Clones the Quick Transfer configuration.
-
Run Again – Runs the same Quick Transfer again.
Some data transfers may encounter errors. To review these, click the Export Error button located at the bottom-left of the window. This downloads a .csv file containing a log of files that failed to transfer. Error logs are retained and available for up to 60 days after the job completes.
